Q&As with Chase Gibbs
Chase, tell us about your career path at AHT.
I started as a General Laborer and moved up into a Furnace Operator role within a few years as opportunities presented themselves. After learning many of the different departments, I was noticed as a potential for management and made supervisor. This will be my 13th year at AHT come this April, 2020.
Chase, what does a typical day look like for you at AHT?
A normal day ranges from corresponding with customers, scheduling vessels, coordinating shipment dates, managing my crew, working on projects like 6S, forward thinking, continuous improvement and even helping do general laborer jobs like packaging parts and fixturing loads.
When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your free time?
Most of my free time is spent playing computer games and watching streams on Twitch or shows on Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. I also like to do a lot of outdoor activities such as biking, golf, wake boarding, fishing and going on walks/hikes.
Tell us about some of the cool things happening at Burton right now & how it will benefit our customers.
We are currently undergoing quite a bit of remodeling and investing money back into the company to increase efficiency and provide more/better tools for our employees to complete their day-to-day tasks. These small things help improve turnaround and provide more solutions to fixturing methods which can result in better dimensional control and more uniform results.
What is one thing people may not know about Chase Gibbs?
I was offered several different college scholarships between football and track, but turned them down to pursue computer programming.
What advice would you give our customers?
It helps quite a bit to have all specifications, material and revisions on the PO and/or print so we can quickly decide and attach a process and get parts into our system for processing.
