Q&As with Jason Moore
Jason, tell us about your career path.
I started with AHT in 2016, in the Shipping & Receiving Department, with aspirations to move into a Production role as soon as possible. From S&R, I moved to production as an Equipment Operator where I quickly excelled and became a Heat Treat Technician and Dayshift Lead. From my Lead role, I began taking on more responsibilities in everyday operations, including customer communications, scheduling and general Production Supervisor type responsibilities.
Prior to AHT, I was a Nuclear Weapons Technician in the United States Air Force.
Jason, what does a typical day look like for you at AHT?
My typical day starts with getting to the shop at 0600, where I get the dayshift operators going on the most important daily tasks. From there, I go to my office and start the daily schedule, and review any customer commitments that are “hot” for the day. Once I get the schedule made, I make my way back to the shop floor where I’ll help with loads, as needed, along with fielding any customer issues or calls. I also work on incoming product paperwork in order to provide the best possible turnaround time for our customers.
When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your free time?
My wife Jessica and I, along with my 12-year old daughter, love to spend time kayaking in any number of inland rivers and waterways Michigan has to offer or hiking mountains and waterfalls in North Carolina, where we have family. I also enjoy playing the electric guitar.
You work with a wide array of industries at our Michigan location. Tell us about an interesting project you’ve work on.
I’ve worked on a number of new and exciting projects during my tenure at AHT. I would say the most exciting/satisfying would be a large gear project we did for a company in Korea. The piece was extremely large, and required detailed loading requirements, as well as extremely difficult temperature control.
What is one thing people may not know about Jason Moore?
My wife and I are dog lovers. We have a 7-year old German Shepard named Bailey, and a 6-year old American Staffordshire Terrier named Arthur. We also have 4 children, Zack 23, Lauryn 19, Ashley 16, and Brooke 12.
What is one thing our customers may not know about AHT?
We truly strive for perfection at AHT. We’re drawing off 35+ years of experience, and would be more than happy to tackle your most difficult projects. Even if you’ve been told by others it cannot be done. We have capabilities to handle larger parts than any of our competitors.
What advice would you give our customers?
To ensure your requirements are met, whether it be metallurgical requirements, packaging requirements, or shipping requirements, I would suggest making sure any details you would like to be taken care of are listed on the PO. This is usually the first document I will go to if I need an answer on special requirements.
