Q&As with Mike Sellers

Mike, you were recently promoted to Aerospace Process Specialist. Tell us about your primary responsibilities in this position.

My primary responsibilities are customer product flow, quality, and customer relations for Aerospace as well as non-aerospace customers.

What other roles have you held and how does your previous experience help prepare you in your new role?

I have previously worked on our shop floor unloading, processing, and packaging parts prior spending almost a decade as a lab technician inspecting customer parts to ensure they met the metallurgical requirements supplied by the customer. This has allowed me to understand our processing needs as well as what the customers requirements are and how to meet them.

You’ve been employed at AHT since 2007. Why do you enjoy working at AHT?

Advanced Heat Treat provides a great culture to work in, great people to work with, a great work/life balance, and plenty of opportunity to grow as an individual within the company. I admit that sounds generic, but as someone who started out as a part time employee while taking college classes, and receiving job opportunities to move up within the company over the years, it really isn’t a surprise that we have so many workers that have been here for 10+ years.

When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your free time?

My wife and I along with our 1-year-old enjoy walks, bike rides, and anything else that gets us outside. I also enjoy golfing, fishing, disc golf, and kayaking.

What is one thing people may not know about Mike Sellers?

I have completed RAGBRAI twice.

What is one thing our customers may not know about AHT?

Your company can set up a time to tour our facilities, whether you are a customer or prospective customer. Also, we are Nadcap accredited at our MidPort location. 

What are some interesting projects you’ve worked on in the past?

Metallurgical lab work for items that are for cars, airplanes, and even outer space.

In your opinion, why should someone choose to do business with AHT vs another heat treater?

Our knowledge base, our experience, and the people that work here. If you do business with us, you will know individuals by first name, and those same people will know you by first name.
